Using motorsport fans instead of the standard VW fan tray has several advantages.
- They are 2-3kg lighter than the standard twin fan tray on a VR6.
- They are much more compact and an ideal companion to a short runner / forced induction manifold.
- The fans modern design performs far better than the standard fans.
Mounting these fans usually involves round plastic cable ties that you push through the radiators core. Although this doesn't seem to cause any damaged and is reliable, we decided to come up with something much better that uses the standard fan mounting points and doesn't involve poking things through the radiator.
