The VW G60 engine is quite an unusual design and has a character all of its own. Setting them up involves what would be considered 'old fashioned' techniques that seem to be disappearing. The G60 pictured below is a fine example and in very good condition, but it performed very badly and wouldn't start very well after being incorrectly setup by another garage. After some initial checks of base timing we discovered that it was far too retarded and fueling very lean. This was reset and the CO adjusted using our 4 gas analyser. The end result was a 1.8 G60 which did 0-60 in 6.08 seconds (checked with our GPS performance meter), or ~200hp. Needless to say the owner was very pleased.
